22 December, 2017 – 1 January, 2018
A rich programme of the first Alternative Culture Festival. The time has come for the elephant to proudly enter the china shop.
From 22 December to 1 January, the first Alternative Culture Festival will bring together free and challenging lovers of alternative art forms such as techno, hip hop, trap, electronica, rap and drum’n’bass under one roof with a rich programme. The 10-day festival will take place in the heart of Maribor, at the iconic location of the former Udarnik cinema and EPEKA Gallery.
9 genres in 10 days
From 22 December until 1 January, the festival will lift your December spirits. It will bring together and provide a roof for already successful and established alternative events and showcase local music artists on the Udarnik stage.
The event will open this Friday 22 December with the already established underground party HushHush where the organisers have announced a techno star coming straight from his residency at the Privilege Club in Ibiza. Lea Dobricic will take to the iconic stage of the Udarnik cinema for the first time.
The very next day, Udarnik Cinema will change its rhythm and once again host one of its major established events. The musical selection of Hodnik will pick up where it left off. In club music, with an emphasis on lower frequencies, which will be complemented by Dubdiggerz and Kanomotis alongside the standard line-up (DVS & Šuljo).
Lntrn X Matter
In the Christmas spirit, on 25 December they will host trap relatives from other parts of Slovenia. The launch of the new Lantern Handcrafted Good collection Parallels and a concert by the post-apocalyptic boyband Matter will seal the mystical darkness of the evening with their twinkling and unique flow.
For all you live music lovers, New Town pop-rockers MRFY and multi-instrumentalist Zala Kralj are coming to the Udarnik cinema.
The nationwide Klub K4 project Gibanica, which provides a space and a place for artistic development for local DJs and producers, is expanding to Maribor. At the Festival of Alternative Culture, Gibanica will get your feet and ears moving to the rhythms of Ikas (Rokko & Rourus), Roiss and U-N (Utti & Nitz).
N’toko X Mito
A hip-hopper mix of old friends from Maribor without a hair on their tongue. Their uncompromising philosophy will manifest itself in a concert event in December that will cater for all the fun-seekers. And there are rumours of a surprise guest from Iran.
The concert will be preceded by a round table discussion with Miho Blažič at the EPEKA Gallery.

This year’s BETA pre-New Year’s Eve starting point of electronic low frequencies will be well covered by local deep bass line artists such as WUBSONIK, Useless D.I., Aveho and others.
