EPEKA is preparing the final event of the project Youth Against Corruption: Tools for Transparency – Y-ACT.
As part of the conversation or round table, we will talk about the current nature and environmental protection challenges in Maribor and the surrounding areas. From the incinerator to Pohorje, where the interests of protecting natural heritage, tourism, the economy, local development and the inhabitants meet.
The discussion will build on questions that have proven to be of particular interest to young people during the implementation of the Y-ACT project: how can we react to pressing events in our environment, how can we obtain reliable information, how do we distinguish between facts, assumptions and different interests, and how can we responsibly address our questions and suggestions to the competent institutions.
At the event, we will also briefly present the key activities and results of the Y-ACT project and the practical handbook that was created in cooperation with young people. The project offered young people a space to learn, share experiences and reflect on how they can work together to address issues that affect their daily lives and the future of their communities.
The event aims to encourage an open and respectful conversation between young people, the professional public, civil society, institutions and residents. We will not be looking for simple answers, but for ways in which we can talk about complex development and environmental issues on the basis of information and taking into account different perspectives.
