The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., participated as a partner in the international project From Home to Home, whose main objective is to facilitate the psychological adjustment of young migrants in Europe.

As an organisation working for many years in the field of social inclusion and work with vulnerable groups, we understand the importance of supporting young migrants in coping with their new environment, cultural differences and personal challenges.

The project was carried out in cooperation with partner organisations from Poland and Bulgaria and is based on an innovative peer-to-peer approach that facilitates the integration of young migrants into their new environment through peer learning and exchange of experiences.

Key achievements of the project

The project developed and implemented a model for the psychological adjustment of young migrants based on a multi-stage learning process focusing on education, sport and the arts.

  • Acquisition of language and communication skills to facilitate daily interactions.
  • Promoting cultural exchanges that strengthen social ties and understanding between local and migrant youth.
  • Developing social networks and a sense of belonging in the community.
  • Improving mental health through sports, informal and artistic activities.
  • Empowered youth leaders who now have educational tools to work with migrant youth.

In addition, we have collected and analysed good practices from different European countries and developed recommendations for organisations working with young migrants.

Key activities and achievements

The From Home to Homeapproach combines emotional support, practical skills and intercultural dialogue for the holistic integration of young migrants. The project benefits not only young migrants but also local youth by promoting openness, cooperation and mutual learning. It provides young migrants with better psychological resilience, language and social skills and increased confidence to integrate into their new environment.

New tools and methods for working with migrants allow more effective support for their integration.

EPEKA, Soc. Ent. has been working on issues of integration and social justice for many years. Experience has shown that classical models of integration are often insufficient, as young migrants face much more than language barriers – they also have to overcome feelings of isolation, loss of social networks and often even traumatic experiences from the past.

This is why From Home to Home wanted to contribute practical, human solutions that are rooted in the needs of the community. We focused on activities that go beyond formal education – sports, arts, non-formal learning and social networking.

From Home to Home demonstrates that integrating young migrants into the community can be achieved through innovative approaches based on empathy, cooperation and peer learning.
