On 02.12., representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., participated in an online meeting organised by Focus – an environmental organisation working on climate change.
Through their work and example, they want to show that each of us can be environmentally and socially responsible. The Association focuses its work on climate, energy, mobility, global responsibility and consumption and the concept of growing up.
The online meeting was designed to introduce the concept of degrowth and to question established concepts such as welfare, quality of life, development, growth, GDP, capitalism… We thought about why we follow the old paradigms, is it necessary or is it possible to think differently; can we set different goals that are more friendly to both people and the environment? Can we use new concepts to find a balance between the economic, social and environmental components of life, both at the level of everyday habits and in social processes where we all take responsibility for our actions? Finally, we also considered how the concept of growing up relates to the social economy and its principles, and how we can influence changes in the institutional framework and socio-economic relations.
