The EPEKA Association will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.
The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the key challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social contexts of housing conditions.
The lecture Housing Policy in Slovenia will review key elements of housing legislation and the challenges posed by the current system. Participants will learn how rental classes, subsidies and housing programs are formed. We will discuss problems such as the lack of non-profit rental housing, lengthy construction procedures and the low share of public housing. We will analyze in more detail how existing policies affect young people and their chances of independence. Participants will gain insight into European practices that show how the state can actively improve housing accessibility. We will consider which changes could have the greatest impact in Slovenia. The lecture will offer a comprehensive view of why the housing crisis is deepening and what systemic solutions are needed.
Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
