The Association EPEKA will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.

The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the key challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social contexts of housing conditions.

At the workshop How much does it cost to move? we will present the participants with the real financial burdens that accompany moving to an independent apartment. Participants will learn how to calculate the costs of transportation, renting a van, purchasing furniture and basic equipment. We will explain how to plan the costs of adaptation and which items are often underestimated in practice. We will also discuss deposits and initial security deposits required by landlords. We will present comparative calculations that show the differences between moving to different Slovenian cities. With practical examples, we will show where young people can save without sacrificing the quality of their living. The workshop will emphasize the importance of good planning, as unforeseen costs can seriously strain the budget of young people. Participants will receive a template for preparing their own moving financial plan.

Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
