NIJZ
The NIJZ is starting to offer influenza vaccination in the outpatient clinics of the regional units on Monday 19 October 2020. This year it is more important than ever to protect as many people as possible against influenza by getting vaccinated, especially for groups in whom influenza may be more severe or have complications.
Influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for groups at higher risk of severe influenza or complications from influenza:
- chronic patients,
- people aged 65 and over,
- young children (6 months to 23 months of age),
- pregnant women
- and for people with extremely high body weight (BMI ≥40).
Vaccination is also particularly recommended for persons whose work exposes them to the risk of infection or who may transmit infection to others, especially health workers and colleagues, employees of nursing homes and other emergency services.
You should get the flu vaccine from the personal doctor of your choice. If this is not possible, you can get the flu vaccine from any other healthcare provider who provides the vaccine, or from a clinic at a regional unit of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
