Within the PRESS – PROMOTING ROMA EQUALITY IN SLOVENIA AND SLOVAKIA project, the President of the EPEKA Association, Štefan Simončič, attended the event “What about the Little Red Riding Hood?” where AGRFT students highlighted different aspects of discrimination.

As part of the European project “Let’s face discrimination”, organised by the Community of Municipalities of Slovenia, students from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) have prepared an original theatre performance dealing with different aspects of discrimination. The premiere performances of the play “What about Little Red Riding Hood?”

“What about Little Red Riding Hood?” is the title of this special performance exploring the different circumstances of discrimination. It is an innovative way to raise awareness on this complex topic, as part of the European project “Let’s face discrimination – creating a society of equal opportunities”. The project brings together various partners, including the Advocate for the Principle of Equality, AGRFT, the Community of Municipalities of Slovenia and the Prizma Foundation, to raise awareness of the need for equal treatment and equal opportunities for all, regardless of personal circumstances.

The show delves into the questions of why discrimination happens, what role education and political correctness play in it, how victims and witnesses of discrimination feel and how we can fight against it. The project is a collaboration between AGRFT students from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of acting, directing and dramaturgy, and external collaborators, who have prepared a theatre performance based on cases of discrimination addressed by the Equality Advocate. The play was directed by Maruša Sirc and dramaturged by Ula Talija Pollak. The cast includes Urban Brenčič, Ajda Kostevc, Luka Kotnik, Alja Krhin, Ajda Pirtovšek and Jure Šimonka.
