The Association EPEKA will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.
The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the key challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social context of housing conditions..
At the lecture Loans for Young People: Conditions, Reality and Alternatives, we will present to the participants in detail how the process of obtaining a loan works and why young people are often in a worse position. Participants will learn what documentation they need to submit to the bank and how creditworthiness is assessed. We will explain the differences between fixed and variable interest rates and between different types of loans. We will pay special attention to the impact of fixed-term employment, work through SP and precarious forms on the possibility of obtaining financing. We will also present common reasons why banks reject a loan application. Participants will learn about alternative models, such as housing funds, savings and loan schemes and collective forms of financing. In conclusion, we will highlight the pitfalls of over-indebtedness and provide recommendations for responsible financial planning.
Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
