The Association EPEKA will also be holding a cycle of workshops, lectures and discussions in 2025 as part of the program Living Problems of Youth or Youth Autonomy.
The purpose of the entire program will be to facilitate the transition to adult life for young people, also by empowering them to be independent in the area of housing. The meetings will be aimed at gaining knowledge, exchanging experiences and understanding the key challenges that young people face in becoming independent. Through a variety of content, we will provide young people with insight into practical procedures, financial aspects, alternative options and the broader social contexts of housing conditions.
At the lecture Youth Abroad: Housing Solutions, we will present to the participants how young people in various European countries are provided with easier access to housing. We will present models from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Spain, where young people are offered specialized rental programs, subsidized housing and youth housing cooperatives. Participants will learn how the state and local communities abroad actively cooperate in improving the housing conditions of young people. We will discuss examples of good practices that could serve as inspiration for the Slovenian space. We will discuss how cultural and economic differences affect housing policies in individual countries. Participants will have the opportunity to compare solutions and think about which ones would be most feasible in our country. The lecture will encourage understanding of the housing issue as an issue that transcends national borders.
Due to the limited number of places, we ask you to register in advance at epeka@epeka.si or in person. The activity is co-financed by the City of Maribor and the Slovenian Youth Office.
