Representation of the European Commission in Slovenia and University of Ljubljana – Faculty for Social Sciences have organized the Citizens’ Dialogue: Role of EU in Crisis, which took place on Friday, 8th March 2019 at 11 a.m.. Audience’s questions were answered by Hristos Stilianides, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, while Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport, was unable to attend due to illness.

EU and its members is the largest donator of humanitarian aid in the world. How does EU react to the natural disasters and humanitarian crises in conflict, where doesthe aid go and what is its meaning?

Solidarity in Europe is made visible by helping in cases of big accidents. Fire in Sweden, flood in Serbia, sleet in Slovenia are just some of the examples. But does a system of civil protection in EU still fit the time of increasingly frequent natural disasters and how to improve it?

More information on the event.
