31 May – 8 June, 2016
Novi Sad, Serbia

The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., participates as a partner in the training “Strategic Partnerships and Activities to Promote Sport for Youth Work during the European Week of Sport”. The training was organised by the Serbian “Association Active youth in happy Europe” and took place in Serbia (Novi Sad), from 31 May to 8 June 2016.

The level of physical activity provided by the sports sector is often insufficient. To this end, the European Commission, through the Erasmus+ programme, has developed tools to support local authorities and NGOs wishing to organise sport activities. EU policy guidelines support the training of youth workers to promote sporting activities, organise quality sporting events and increase the involvement of the population in sporting activities.

The training “Strategic partnerships and activities to promote youth sports work during European Week of Sport” brought together 32 participants, coaches and staff members from 14 partner organisations from 13 countries (Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, Malta, Estonia and Cyprus).

The objectives of the training were:

  • To exchange experiences in the field of sport and youth work in the partner countries.
  • To understand the concept of “Sport for All” and to promote the personal development of young people on a mental and physical level through sport.
  • To exchange different methods of implementing sport activities, to promote creative development and to bring together in an innovative way organisations that will be active in the field of youth sport in the future.
  • Identification of stakeholders in youth sports work and understanding of the difference between sports clubs and youth organisations and the applicability of sport in them.
  • Identify quality strategic partnerships for youth sport work and develop recommendations for youth organisations and youth workers to develop them.
  • Exchange experiences on sport and health in the EU and candidate countries and promote sport and healthy physical activity by organising sport activities and events during the European Week of Sport.
  • Achieving common criteria for the activities to be carried out during the EVS and agreeing on norms and standards for the quality organisation of activities.
  • Learning how to use the Erasmus+ programme to promote sport, health and physical activity.
  • Developing new projects and future cooperation at European level between the participating organisations with a sport methodology in youth work.

The course was based on the approach, principles and methods of non-formal education together with a lot of sport activities. The language of the training course was English.

The training was attended by three volunteers from the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent.
