We invite you to an event on the occasion of International Mountain Day, a global holiday that highlights the extraordinary importance of mountain ecosystems, their sensitivity and the role they play for humanity. Mountains are a source of water, biodiversity, traditions, natural and cultural heritage, but they are also among the most endangered environments due to climate change, mass tourism and increasing environmental pressures.
The event will be dedicated to reflecting on the importance of mountains for young generations and how each of us can contribute to nature protection, sustainable mountain visits and a respectful attitude towards the environment. Young volunteers from EPEKA will present the key challenges we face: from erosion and biodiversity loss to the impacts of mass tourism and the dangers of irresponsible behavior in mountain areas.
At the workshop, we will also explore together how the habits we form at home, such as responsible behavior in nature, sustainable mobility, waste reduction and respect for local communities, can have a significant impact on the preservation of mountain spaces. The event will combine conversation, exchange of experiences and inspiring stories of young people who have come to know the mountains as a place of learning, connection and personal peace.
Join us on a pleasant winter evening and together we will celebrate a day that reminds us that mountains are a common heritage — and a common responsibility.
Participation is free. Please register for the event at epeka@epeka.si
Mountains lift us up. Let’s preserve them.
