In honor of World Cities Day, we invite you to a special workshop dedicated to reflecting on how urban environments can become more equitable, accessible, and sustainable.

World Cities Day encourages us to reflect on the challenges of modern cities, from the housing crisis to the quality of public spaces, and on how we can contribute to creating inclusive and vibrant urban communities.

We are preparing the event together with architect Urban Žunek, who will present key concepts of modern urbanism, the importance of community spaces, and new, more equitable approaches to urban planning. We will place special emphasis on housing cooperatives as a sustainable and affordable alternative to classic models of living, and explore how collaborative governance and community spaces can build more resilient and connected cities.

The workshop, which the young people of EPEKE are preparing on the holiday of October 31, will connect World Cities Day with Reformation Day. Just as the Reformation encouraged reflection, change, and new social ideas, we will also reflect on how today’s generations can “reform” ways of urban living – through collaboration, innovative practices, and sustainable forms of community action. The holiday is thus an opportunity to think about cities as spaces of constant renewal, improvement, and shared creation.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of creative reflection on the future of cities and new forms of living.

We all co-create cities, let’s make them better together.

The EPEKA youth program is co-financed by: the Youth Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the Municipality of Maribor and Erasmus+.
