The Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, has experience with 10-finger blind typing and has already organized two courses for children on this topic. Below you will find the basics so that you can tackle this task on your own.

The development of the internet has led to a situation where we can now do almost everything ourselves. This also applies to 10-finger touch typing. Websites for learning this skill have advanced and now also offer courses in Slovenian. All you need to do is find information about these websites. That’s why we’re here for you, so you don’t have to waste your life on it. We’ll do it all for you.

MATERIAL

  1. Let’s start with the website:

    Here, we learn where each letter is located and which finger to use to select it.We noticed one mistake in the use of the number pad, as the thumb is used to press zero, not the index finger as shown here. At least that was the case years ago. The layout of the keyboard was also a problem at the time, as the position of the diaeresis marks changed. But even that was survivable.
  2. Once we know which finger to use, we can choose from the other websites available, depending on our preferences:
    https://10fastfingers.com / On this website, we can also add our own texts, and it is suitable for increasing typing speed, but it does not teach us where the keys are.
  3. A website that does not allow any mistakes and thus teaches us accuracy.

  4. By far the best site for gaining typing speed is https://monkeytype.com/
    By selecting the ESC key, you can access all the settings, which are really something special. Let me mention Funbox: typing during an earthquake, reading two words ahead, tracking your speed with a visible cursor. It’s incredible. Try it and you’ll gain speed day by day in a fun way.

The entire youth program is free for participants, as it is funded by the City of Maribor, the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, and the Ministry of Public Administration. Other partners also contribute to its implementation and provide additional support for the program.
