The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is organising a series of short 10-finger typing training courses for children aged 9-12 at the Andragógský Zavod Maribor.
The meetings will start on 12 April and will take place twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:00 to 19:00. The training will be delivered over a total of 20 hours.
The course provides participants with knowledge in the following areas:
- writing in the blind ten-finger system (home and foreign letters, punctuation, special characters and numbers),
- a review of basic typing instructions,
- reviewing suitable websites for typing practice,
- acquiring knowledge on how to use these sites,
- Reflection on tactics and strategies for the future,
- basic text formatting,
- organising files on the computer.
The ultimate goal of the training is for children to be able to use the websites available to improve their typing skills in a completely independent way. All of them can be used in Slovenian.
By practising independently, they will gain confidence in themselves and typing is just the beginning of an independent journey of exploration. It may also give them an advantage in life and help them to explore other areas.
The course is tailored to children with PPPU (learning disabilities), for whom the skills of fast 10-finger typing and organising files on the computer can help them follow lessons faster and more efficiently.
