EPEKA to Attend the Professional Consultation: For Food, For the Planet, Let’s Waste Less
April 21, 2026,
Center Rog, Ljubljana
Members of the EPEKA Association will participate in the central professional consultation on the Slovenian Day Without Food Waste on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia at Center Rog in Ljubljana. The event, titled “For Food, For the Planet, Let’s Waste Less,” is a key opportunity to reflect on how we, as a society and as individuals, can reduce the amount of food waste, which has become a major ecological and social challenge in today’s world.
The consultation will feature more than 20 experts from Slovenia, France, the Netherlands, and Italy, who will present innovative approaches and best practices in the field of sustainable food management. Discussions will focus on systemic solutions in retail, hospitality, education, and healthcare, as well as digital tools that help companies and households better plan their consumption. For us at EPEKA, participating in such a meeting is important as food issues are closely intertwined with our areas of work – from social inclusion to educating youth about a sustainable lifestyle.
The thematic focus of the event will be on the circular economy and concrete measures, such as measuring food waste in hospitals, redistributing surpluses to people in need, and introducing standards that reduce losses throughout the entire supply chain. The program promises a rich exchange of experiences that will assist us in planning our future projects in the field of youth and the environment.
The event is funded by the European Union within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy, further emphasizing the importance of linking local measures with European sustainability goals.
