Representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., Andi Janković and Špela Bojčič, attended the APV meeting in Daugavpils, Latvia.

The Midsummer Night’s Dream project, which promotes solidarity and acceptance of difference and cultural differences by studying the celebration of festivals in different European regions. The project activities will take place from 16 to 25 June 2017 in Daugavpils.

Key project objectives:

  • To promote intercultural relations and to learn about the different celebrations of the summer solstice across Europe.
  • to organise project activities and use non-formal learning methods
  • to ensure the integration, development and education of the participants
  • to provide group and individual activities during the project
    participate in the organisation of the Solstice Festival in Daugavpils
  • to educate participants about different traditions and customs related to the solstice and to celebrate the old Latvian solstice festival in a multicultural context

The project will take place in the Latvian city of Daugavpils, located in eastern Latvia along the Daugava River. With 100 000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Latvia after the capital Riga. The city is a key cultural centre of eastern Latvia with a rich history and many attractions. The project will involve 30 participants from six countries who will take part in a variety of project activities: spontaneous street performances, discussions, excursions, presentations, lectures, herb picking, solstice workshops, local food tastings, etc.
