Period  2021 – 2023,
“ARTephemeral in school education”

The project “ARTephemeral in School Education” is a collaboration of 6 different organisations in the educational community from Slovenia, Turkey, Italy and Spain.

The aim is to engage students, especially those with fewer opportunities in the school environment, in the development of key entrepreneurial competences through the arts and the use of new technologies to meet the demands of an increasingly globalised and technological society and labour market. On the other hand, we want to improve the quality of education by providing school staff with tools for teaching ephemeral art that can be used for different subjects in school and/or as part of the fine arts curriculum. In addition, the aim is to promote ephemeral art as a tool of expression that will allow students to communicate the consequences, feelings and emotions that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused in their lives, both on a personal and social level, in the school and family environment. Students will also reflect on the implications of the impact of the pandemic on their professional future.

ABOUT US

The project will be implemented by an association of different educational community organisations from Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey. The six partners involved in this project include three non-profit organisations with extensive experience in European projects and in the development of new educational methodologies that promote art and creativity as a tool for inclusion:

  • AIDEJOVEN (SPAIN), a coordinating organisation that has a long history of working in the youth field with new educational methodologies in the context of non-formal and informal education, such as the use of new technologies, the promotion of cultural and artistic activities, theatre and circus, aiming to improve civic and social competences among young people.
  • LA ASOCIACION (ITALY) is a non-profit organisation active in the field of education, researching innovative tools through non-formal education, assisting communities and professionals in the care of young people who are disadvantaged or who show social and/or psychological difficulties and/or problems related to school education and early school leaving. It maintains a permanent network of collaborators between schools in Italy and Europe with a strong presence in their region. Its President is also responsible for the “YOUTH INFORMATION POINT”, which is dependent on the Municipality of Vasto.
  • The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., SLOVENIA (SLOVENIA) is a scientific and investment association of artistic, cultural, educational and technological programmes. Their activities are linked to the promotion of the rights of vulnerable groups, especially young people and women. It implements various educational activities for young people with fewer opportunities, creating new educational tools to improve their key skills and competences and bring them closer to the labour market.

On the other hand, there are public institutions at regional and local level:

  • MÜDÜRLÜĞÜ VE SOSYAL POLİTİKALAR MÜDÜRLÜĞÜ ANKARA MÜDÜRLÜĞÜ POLİTİKALAR. The Ankara (Turkey) Provincial Directorate for Family and Social Policy decides on social policies related to family, women, children, the elderly and the disabled. They develop and implement activities related to social services and solidarity and cooperation between other institutions and NGOs. They have extensive experience in European projects. In addition, as a public institution, it has resources and contacts with those responsible for educational competences, with whom it works closely.

And two training centres:

  • CEIP SEIS DE DICIEMBRE (Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid), a public centre for basic education.
  • POLO LICEALE STATALE “R. MATTIOLI Public Centre for Secondary Education in Vasto, Italy.

ACTIVITIES

Various activities are foreseen during the implementation of the project.

1. Teacher training activity

The first is a training activity for teachers, which aims to improve the quality of education by providing a methodological manual for teaching ephemeral art in a school environment. During the learning activity, teachers will be trained in software design and 3D modelling and other technological tools to facilitate teaching and project development with students. The art component will be designed as a tool to improve students’ key skills. At the end of the training, the teachers will be asked to develop a project involving ephemeral art to be implemented in their educational centres in order to test the methodological approach they have learnt and to transfer their new knowledge to the students.

2. Implementing ephemeral art projects in schools

The second activity will involve the implementation of ephemeral art projects in schools. This activity is essential to demonstrate the importance of using ephemeral art as a tool to develop the eight key competences for lifelong learning. Teachers will have four months to carry out ephemeral art projects in their schools, promoting collaborative activities and working in multidisciplinary groups to strengthen students’ social and civic competences. Pupils will improve their communication skills in their mother tongue and in foreign languages. During the project, they will learn to communicate with their classmates and to define their duties in the working group: one of them will be in charge of reporting on the project, another one will be in charge of documenting, another one will be in charge of taking photos, etc. They will improve their communication skills in foreign languages as they will communicate with pupils from other countries. English is the communicative language of this project and will be used for the presentation and the realisation of the project videos. They will improve their mathematical competences through calculations, measures to use the scale as a tool to make artistic sculptures. The aim of this activity is the personal development of the students through critical thinking and the exercise of interpersonal skills. Ephemeral art helps to transform an idea into reality, which will increase the students’ sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. The realisation of a project is linked to creativity, innovation and risk-taking, and the ability to plan and manage each stage to achieve one’s goal. Through this activity, students will realise their cultural awareness and expression, they will learn and appreciate the importance of creatively expressing ideas, experiences and emotions through the ephemeral arts. During the activities of the school events in each country, all the art projects created by the students will be displayed in an exhibition involving their families, authorities, teachers, etc. A jury of experts will evaluate the artworks and select the winning team, which will be offered a special prize. The winning team will have the opportunity to participate in a pupil exchange, the third activity proposed in the project.

3. Youth Exchange

The Youth Exchange will take place in Ankara, Turkey, and the students, accompanied by a teacher, will have the opportunity to meet new cultures and people, share ideas and different lifestyles, strengthen their European awareness, improve their communication skills in foreign languages through a participatory methodology.

4. Final event

At the end of the project, a final event is planned in Spain, in which all project partners will participate, as the event will take place at the sixth and last international meeting in Madrid. This event will be held in the city centre of Madrid to encourage accessibility and participation of as many people as possible. The event will take place in the Event Hall of the European Parliament’s Madrid office. The target audience of the multi-stakeholder event will be diverse in order to increase the impact of the project and stimulate interest and dissemination of the methods and results: educational centres, especially primary and secondary education; youth organisations; arts associations; cultural organisations; members of the technical committee for the preparation of the methodological manual; various media supporting the dissemination of the project.

The objectives of the event are:

  • To present the Erasmus+ programme and its possibilities.
  • Presentation of the Methodological Manual for Teaching Ephemeral Art.
  • To disseminate the intellectual product.

It will be divided into several parts:

  • Opening by the competent authority.
  • Presentation of the project, its objectives, activities, intellectual product, results and impact. This part will be the responsibility of AIDEJOVEN as project coordinator.

We will also count on the participation of the different partners involved, such as experts, teachers, etc. from each country, who will share their experiences and the benefits the project has brought to their students.

The event will be broadcast by all project partners on their social network and in their area of operation.

After the final event, all data, videos, speeches and conclusions will be uploaded on the project website and on each partner’s website.

INTELLECTUAL PRODUCT

The intellectual product “A METHODOLOGICAL GUIDE FOR TEACHING EFEMERICAL ARTS IN SCHOOL” is planned to be created, which will design new educational approaches to promote the professional development and access to employment of future generations in the cultural arts field through the development of key skills and competences. The target group will be teachers who will benefit from the content during the training, as well as students who will enjoy implementing Art Ephemeral projects in their schools and developing digital, entrepreneurial, expressive and goal-setting skills through collaborative activities and, as the second part will include their own projects, giving the winners a special space. In this way, a complete guide has been created that includes all the important aspects of this project: activities that promote the inclusion of students, especially those with fewer opportunities, in the school environment through information and non-formal learning (including digital work and the use of new technologies) with a cultural and creative component that helps students to acquire key skills and competences. And to provide teachers with tools for teaching ephemeral art that can be used for different subjects in school and/or as part of a fine arts curriculum.
