3 December, 2020
Online
We kindly invite you to join us online on Thursday, December 3, at 8pm for a broadcast of the Oberton String Octet concert.
Unfortunately, the year 2020 does not allow us to give concerts of the cycle “Classics today? Tomorrow?” performed in the form we originally envisioned. Faced with the challenge of adapting and finding new solutions, we therefore decided on alternative solutions.
This year, the International String Octet celebrates its fifth anniversary. A group of enthusiasts, students at the Graz KUG, has developed into an internationally acclaimed ensemble that regularly performs throughout Europe and collaborates with eminent musicians.
The octet, made up of eight young musicians from around the world, finds great joy in the challenges tied to one of the more unusual formations for chamber music. From standard works of the genre repertoire to interesting arrangements, rarely performed works and world premieres. The ensemble offers endless possibilities and a unique variety offered by eight string instruments.
Works by Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov, Viennese Franz Schubert and Argentine Astor Piazzolla will be performed on a special online broadcast of the concert prepared for the concert series “Classics Today? Tomorrow?”
The event is supported by the Municipality of Maribor.
