On Sunday, 18 October, at 5 pm, we invite you to Maribor Island, where we will host a legend of Prekmurje-inspired ethno music, Vlad Kreslin.

We will prepare for you an intimate and minimalist acoustic concert that will intertwine Kreslin’s musical perfection with narrative elements that build on anecdotes from his youth and the adventures he got involved in during his growing up and long musical journey. Both the narrative and the musical part of the event will be dedicated to the influence that the Roma musical and cultural tradition had on Kreslin’s work. It was not only the geographical proximity of the Prekmurje Roma, who gave the region’s musical tradition an unmistakable imprint, that influenced Kreslin, but also his many collaborations with musicians of Roma roots throughout his long creative career. The concert will thus showcase Kreslin’s masterful fusion of complementary musical traditions with a thinly sensitive storytelling, and at the same time demonstrate the influence that the Roma musical tradition has had on the broader field of cultural creativity in our country.

The concert is part of the “Voice of Roma” music series, co-financed by the Municipality of Maribor.
