EPEKA, Soc.Ent. organised a coordination meeting with an apprentice from MOM on the organisation of events for the International Youth Day, which will take place on 12 August at the Mariborski otok swimming pool.

In 1999, the United Nations designated 12 August as International Youth Day to celebrate and discuss various issues that affect and concern young people. This year’s priority theme for International Youth Day is transforming education. We want to take this opportunity to empower young people by making them aware of the importance of formal, non-formal and informal education, and to introduce them to a mindset that promotes the acquisition of a wide range of forms of education, which as a society moves us closer to Sustainable Development Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is to provide quality education for all on an equal basis and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

To this end, we will organise a roundtable on 12 August at 10 am to reflect on how to achieve the goals at national, regional and local level. Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia, the Andragogical Centre of Slovenia, the Slovenian Youth Office, the Municipality of Maribor and other stakeholders will be invited. The round table will be followed by a full-day programme, with various organisations working in the field of youth and education presenting their activities and running workshops aimed at young people.Throughout the day, there will be sports, cultural, educational and other activities, a music programme and animation for young people, and activities to remind them of the importance of diverse forms of education. By organising the event, we also want to positively influence the networking of organisations and other stakeholders working in the field of youth education.
