Romani kafenava, Gostilna Dela

We share a sense of difference and a social sense towards those who are forgotten and marginalised. We believe in compassion and goodwill with which we tackle our daily challenges. And these challenges are very much realised behind the stove on both sides (Romani kafenava, Gorkega 34, Maribor Gostilna Dela, Poljanska 7, Ljubljana).

Because we love a challenge and because we love to surprise our guests, we decided to delight them with a new twist – the Culinary Exchange. For one day, we’ll swap a team member and one daily menu.

Briefly about who we are:

ROMANI KAFENAVA is the first Roma restaurant in the EU that preserves Roma culture, integrates Roma into society and the work environment, trains them in an informal way to work in a restaurant and reduces prejudices and stereotypes about Roma. The restaurant operates on the principle of social entrepreneurship, which means that it invests all profits in preserving and creating new jobs.

GOSTILNA DELA offers vocational training and workplace-based learning opportunities to different groups of young people (young people without completed education, aged between 17 and 25, young people with disabilities up to the age of 30, or other people with special needs) who, for various reasons, face difficulties in finding employment. The purpose of such learning is to develop social skills, work experience, work routines and work motivation.
