The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., in the framework of the EU Youth Cinema: Green Deal project, is organising a screening of films in Novo Mesto.

EU Youth Cinema: Green Deal  is an innovative project dedicated to a sustainable Europe, presenting the European Union’s green objectives in a film context. The project contributes to the appreciation and understanding of the EU Green Deal among young viewers and provides a platform for a multicultural approach to the Green Agenda. The project engages young audiences in particular, addressing environmental challenges and promoting green activities and lifestyles.

The project will offer young people and teachers a programme of film and educational activities over a period of 24 months. The film screenings and streaming content will be accompanied by didactic material and thematically linked discussions, workshops and lectures.

The programme is based on a carefully selected film collection of 25 European films, which will be presented both in cinemas and via an online streaming platform between May 2022 and May 2024.

The project is implemented in Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, North Macedonia and Romania. All films will be subtitled in local languages and are suitable for young people aged 10 and over.

Sarah, a young environmental activist, has been campaigning for a better world for years, but is now questioning her activism. Why is so little still happening? What can she, one person, really achieve? Is it still possible to stop climate change? With these and other questions in mind, she embarks on a train journey across Europe to meet young activists who are successfully campaigning for solutions in their own countries. Even in a pandemic, there is a glimmer of hope and for every problem there is a solution.

Agbogbloshie in Accra is the world’s largest landfill site for electronic waste. Some 6,000 women, men and children live and work here. They call it “Sodom”. Some 250,000 tonnes of discarded computers, smartphones, air-conditioners and other devices from the far-flung digital and electrical world end up here every year. Illegal. Their inner voices give us a deep insight into life here.
