Roma Station, Maribor

On Tuesday, 6 October 2020, at 16.00, we invite you to the VNRC Roma Station for an informal training on Roma cultural heritage.

All those who would like to learn more about Roma cultural heritage are invited to attend a lecture and visit the exhibition Te Pinčardija, organised by the Roma women of Maribor. The training will be held in two parts. First, we will visit the VNRC Roma Station together with our volunteer Sanijaa Hajrizi to learn how the exhibition was conceived and set up, and which elements of Roma cultural heritage the authors of the exhibition have chosen to highlight. We will then go together to the Epeka Gallery, where the authors of the exhibition will give us a more detailed presentation. We will see traditional Roma clothing, photographs of jewellery, learn about Roma customs related to important turning points in their lives and also learn about traditional Roma dishes. We will end the training with a guided discussion about Roma culture, torn between tradition and modernity.

The activity will take place from 16.00 to 18.00.

Participation is free of charge. The event will be held in accordance with the recommendations of the NIJZ.
