Did you know that you can create your own composting system even in a small city apartment? Join us for a creative and educational workshop where we will work together to create simple, efficient and aesthetically sophisticated composters adapted to the urban environment.
How will the workshop be organised?
- Introduction to composting
- First, we will learn together about the basics of composting – what compost is, how it is made, why it is important and what you can compost at home. We will focus on tailor-made solutions for homes where space is limited.
- Practical part: making a composter
- Under the guidance of the tutors, participants will make their own composter with a ventilation system using recycled materials (e.g. plastic or wooden boxes, buckets, nets, pots). You will learn how to ensure proper air circulation, how to prevent odours and how to maintain a microclimate for successful decomposition.
- Tips for use and maintenance
- Finally, we will present the most common mistakes, share recipes for a balanced compost (the relationship between green and brown materials), and show how compost can be used to grow plants on a balcony, windowsill or community garden.
