8 March, 2018
Maribor

You are invited to a public presentation of the World Life Experience programme in Maribor on 8 March 2018, at Koroška cesta 8, at 12 noon.

The event will last up to two hours and will feature a panel discussion with World Life Experience travellers. Samar Zughool will open the programme with a recital of Arabic poetry.
The conversation will also touch on the impact, connection and support for the 2030 Global Agenda, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

More about the programme, participants and Slovenian partners:

The World Life Experience programme started on 8 January in Lisbon and will take 11 participants of different nationalities to 28 different destinations in Europe, Asia and South America. They will use social media to share their insights and experiences in each country they visit. While their 10-day stay in each country includes some leisure activities, most of it is dedicated to interacting with local organisations and working directly with NGOs. This is to show the world a very different approach to travel: see the world while helping those in need, and thereby driving change. World Life Experience participants will work directly with Povod, the Slovenian partner of World Life Experience, which coordinates the team’s field programme activities in Slovenia.

Povod’s main activities are dedicated to intercultural dialogue, which it strengthens by carrying out activities in Slovenia and around the world. The Institute works for global justice and development through art, education and cooperation, and also runs global education and awareness programmes for European audiences and advocates for the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. Their aim is to strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation to foster the development of civil society organisations by building partnerships with the public and, above all, by supporting young people in developing their own initiatives and setting up social enterprises. They will first spend five days in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where they will explore our culture, history and learn about good practices in social entrepreneurship. The second part of their adventure in Slovenia will take them to the Štajerska region, where they will learn about sustainable projects and social economy enterprises.

After Slovenia, the group will travel to Prague, where they will work with another association.

The participants work as a whole and share their daily lives, insights and experiences with a global audience through World Life Experience social media and website.

Objectives

The project is open to the whole world, so all organisations are welcome to join us. We can assure them that we will do our best to accommodate them comfortably. We are already working with institutions, brands and organisations that help us locally to provide accommodation, meals, adventures, transport, experiences, funding, etc. in order to promote everything that reflects their core business.

Our objectives are to promote social responsibility through direct donations to global NGOs and direct engagement with local organisations, to offer participants a unique experience and to raise awareness of global social and cultural diversity.
