As part of the Erasmus+ funded training, the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., invites you to a final public lecture by Dr. Rudi Klanjšek, Professor at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor and sociologist, who will present the geopolitical and economic causes of migration and their consequences.

The lecture will be based on the thesis that migration is an integral part of social life, that there are various factors that have led people in the past and today to leave their home areas. Within the framework of this thesis, the focus will be mainly on recent events related to the economic integration/globalisation of the world and instability as a consequence of various conflicts and wars, including these. The “war on terror”, which increasingly seems to be a foregone conclusion. The reasons why this is so and the consequences of current political and economic trends will be explored.

Rudi Klanjšek is Head of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor. His areas of interest include topics in modernisation, globalisation, sociology of social change, inequality and poverty. He has published several professional and scientific articles on these topics and is a regular columnist for the daily Finance.
