Representatives of the Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, will participate in the online event “Protecting Places of Worship in Context and Beyond – Mapping Hate, Developing Responses”. Online and offline threats fueled by hatred are becoming increasingly common throughout Europe.

The PARTES final conference focuses on the specific case of religious buildings and broader threats, extremist strategies, best practices, and solutions for prevention and protection.

The aim of the two-year PARTES project was to develop a comprehensive prevention model for the protection of places of worship (PoW) that is evidence-based, inclusive, and participatory. As identified at the outset of the project, in order to effectively combat the security threats facing PoW, it is essential to it is essential to understand the underlying phenomenon of violent extremism and its specific manifestations in relation to these targets; to involve religious communities in policies and measures; and to educate the wider population about toxic extremist rhetoric, as well as the characteristics and manifestations of different faiths. This PARTES final event contextualises its findings on extremist threats in Europe, preventive environments and countermeasures with related projects and research initiatives.
