Roma Civil Monitor

The Association EPEKA,  Soc. Ent., participates in the Roma Civil Monitor project funded by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers.

Roma Civil Monitor is a pilot project with the full title ‘Capacity building with Roma civil society and strengthening its participation in monitoring national Roma integration strategies’.

The aim of the pilot project is to strengthen monitoring mechanisms for the implementation of national Roma integration strategies through systematic monitoring by civil society. The added value of civil society monitoring comes from the independent status and field experience of the participating NGOs. The pilot project aims to encourage civil society monitoring in two ways: through development measures that will monitor civil society actors and by supporting the preparation of quality, comprehensible annual monitoring reports. The project will involve the active participation of around 90 NGOs from 27 Member States.

The main activities of the pilot project include:

  • Involvement of NGOs: call for and selection of participating organisations.
  • capacity building: knowledge banks, workshops
  • development of monitoring reports
  • dissemination of monitoring reports
  • networking of NGOs
