Online meeting

Žiga Dobnikar attended a working meeting of Sloge, which sought to define the vision and mission of the platform in the coming years.

We focused on two fundamental issues:

  • What are the emerging challenges in the field of development, global learning and humanitarian aid, and which ones remain constant?
  • What do we want to contribute (personally, as organisations and as a platform) to these themes?

We used the World Café method, which “is a method for creating living networks of collaborative dialogue on issues that are relevant in real-life contexts. It is a provocative metaphor. As we create our lives, as we work in our organisations and our communities, we are moving between the ‘conversation tables’ of the world café for all the right reasons.”

The facilitator of the meeting was Sašo Kronegger.

In a way, the renewal of the Network’s vision and mission comes at the right time. Covid-19 has changed almost all its priorities or at least its emphasis in the areas of development, global learning and international humanitarian aid. At the same time, the pandemic has exposed and highlighted the inequalities that permeate modern life. Political polarisation contributes to reinforcing differences and prevents the perception of the intersectionality of content. The traditional model, built on binaries of donor-recipient, North-South and developed-developing, has shifted towards global integration and accountability with the adoption of the 2030 Agenda. The entry of private capital into development cooperation financial instruments is being strengthened. Each of these themes has shadow sides that we, as an active civil society, need to draw attention to. We need to strengthen integration, cooperation, networking to strengthen our individual voices.
