Gorišnica

The representatives of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., are going to attend the event Smart Villages, which will tahe place in Gorišnica.

What is meant by “smart villages” and what will be their impact on living and working in rural areas, farms, villages and small towns in the coming decades? The impact of digitisation and automation is reflected in the demands for the development of precision agriculture, smart energy grids, a change of mindset in the economy, mobility, social care, healthcare and tourism, while at the same time fundamentally encroaching on the grey zone of legislation and regulation. What does this mean for citizens, for agriculture and for the economy? How can we ensure that the digital divide between rural and urban areas does not lead to emigration, poverty and farm collapse? Will we harness these challenges to create new jobs, efficient and fast public transport, a cleaner environment or better use of agricultural land?
To answer these questions, the European Commission is preparing a package of actions and calls under the EU Smart Villages Action. And the European Parliament, on the proposal of MEPs Franco Bogovič and Tibor Szanyi, recently approved a €3.3 million Preparatory Action specifically dedicated to developing smart solutions for Europe’s countryside. In Gorišnica, we will explore how Slovenia can take advantage of this Preparatory Action and other opportunities to become a leading European country in developing the quality of life and work in rural areas.
