Representative of the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., attended an online conference on the social economy and Roma inclusion during the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference addressed how Europe is facing the social and economic shock caused by devastating effects of the coronavirus.

Numerous Europeans have lost incomes, homes, security and even loved ones, but Roma communities across the continent are particularly affected. Due to the explicit goal of contributing to better social and economic inclusion and improving social outcomes, especially for vulnerable groups, the social economy can play a key role in ensuring equal rights and well-being of Roma communities in the recovery process in different countries. This event will present concrete good practices in this area and present positive ways to ensure that the potential of the social economy to support Roma inclusion is at the core of recovery packages and the forthcoming Social Economy and Social Innovation Action Plan is fully in line with the recently released EU Strategic Framework. for Roma.

The web conference will bring together national experts, organizations and other stakeholders and EU policy makers to discuss how to achieve real change in European Roma policy in the social economy.
