Štefan Simončič to speak at the Policy Dialogue on the State of Social Rights in Slovenia
14 April 2026,
Ljubljana
The President of the EPEKA Association, Štefan Simončič, will participate as an expert in the international conference titled “Policy Dialogue on the State of Social Rights in Slovenia.” The event, organized in Ljubljana by the Povod Institute and the Brussels-based SOLIDAR network, aims to reflect on key developments in social rights and civic space in Slovenia in light of European policies.
Simončič will speak in the first panel, “The State of Social Rights in Slovenia,” where he will react to the findings of the flagship publication, the Social Rights Monitor (SRM). His contribution will focus on the pressing housing crisis in Slovenia, placing it within the broader context of European guidelines and issues concerning civic space.
The conference will also feature high-level representatives from European institutions, including MEP Matjaž Nemec as a keynote speaker. The dialogue aims to formulate recommendations for EU-level decision-makers to help achieve greater stability and resilience in Slovenia’s social sector.
The discussion will provide valuable insights into how the European Union can further strengthen social rights and protect the functioning of non-governmental organizations at the national level. You can read more about the network’s work on the SOLIDAR website.
