Židovski trg, Maribor

On the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Genocide against the Roma and Sinti, we kindly invite you to a memorial event organized in collaboration with Sinagoga Maribor. The event will start at 7:00 PM.

In the name of the organizers, coordinator of cultural programs at Sinagoga Maribor, Marjetka Bedrač, and the President of EPEKA Association, social enterprise, Štefan Simončič, will address the visitors.

We will honor the memory of Roma victims of the Nazi genocide with a concert by the group Der Šenster Gob. Der Šenster Gob is an acoustic band from Prague that plays Roma, Jewish, and Balkan music while traveling across Europe in a romantic green wooden caravan. They perform stylistically diverse songs, ranging from old Jewish traditional klezmer tunes to more recent Roma melodies with a touch of jazz. Their music embodies the spirit of traveling musicians and wanderers, and their performances are full of energy and creativity while demonstrating great respect for tradition.

The group consists of Matěj Heinzl (clarinet, saxophone, vocals), Martin Sochor (violin, vocals), Jan Vítů (acoustic guitar, double bass, vocals), and Vojtěch Vasko (double bass, accordion, tuba, vocals).

The event is supported by the Municipality of Maribor. The event is co-created by the Association for Connecting Romani Women Loli Luludi.
