Maribor Island

We invite you, young people and young at heart, who attend our programmes within the VNRC Roma Station, to join us in visiting Maribor Island and the activities we are organising for you in the framework of the International Youth Day.

In 1999, the UN General Assembly designated 12 August as International Youth Day to give young people a day of the year to draw attention to their situation and remind them of the problems they face. This year’s theme for the day was Safe spaces for young people. The guests of the round table will be Nomi Hrast, student and Chair of the Youth Issues Commission of the MOM, Robert Križanič, Director of the Povod Institute, and Patrik Kristl, student of philosophy and member of the Pirate Party, who will discuss how to mobilise young people, whether young people are really apathetic, and ways for young people to organise themselves in order to have a greater social impact.

After the roundtable, we will organise a wide range of educational activities, games and other ways to spend quality leisure time and non-formal education in cooperation with Maribor youth centres.

Of course, it will also be possible to go swimming, and entry to the swimming pool will be free of charge for participants of the programmes organised within the framework of the VNRC Roma Station.

The meeting will take place at 10:00 in the parking lot in front of the Maribor Island, but if you need transport, we will meet you at 9:30 in front of the VNRC Roma Station.

The activity will run from 10am to 3pm, but you can stay longer.

Participation is free of charge.
