Representatives of the Association EPEKA, a social enterprise, will participate in a workshop: Transposing the EU Regulation into national transition strategies – accelerating heating from renewable energy sources and sector coupling.

Transposing EU legislation into national frameworks is a key step in accelerating the decarbonization of the heating sector. To this end, Member States have adopted National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) and are required to report on progress every two years.

The workshop will examine the current guidelines and their implementation and discuss how Member States can effectively implement regulatory requirements to support the expansion of heating from renewable energy sources. Presentations will particularly highlight the role of sector coupling and its potential to facilitate the transposition of EU legislation by promoting a cross-sectoral approach to the transformation of energy systems. Drawing on diverse European experiences, the workshop will highlight best practices and explore different pathways to accelerate implementation at national level.

The workshop is aimed at European energy agencies and their extended networks, including national and local authorities, policymakers and advisors, heating network operators, municipalities, and other key stakeholders and experts in the European energy sector.
