CAAP – Centre for Alternative and Autonomous Production is a hub for the development of new economies, social enterprises and cooperatives/co-operatives, innovative social and ecological practices and the creative use of community spaces..

CAAP offers a refuge for community self-organisation and opens itself as a meeting place and time for all who wish to collaborate and create. This open space and time is made available as an intersection of the forgotten potentials of the city, which are reawakening and proving that there are strengths and capacities to take care of oneself and the community in the foundations of the city. The bustle of encounter and co-creation in CAAP is the starting point for initiating social processes that are slowly but steadily changing the map of the city. CAAP is committed to the sustainable development of society, to the development of a society of equals, to openness to difference and to the realisation of the right of communities to look after themselves on the basis of their own potential.

The objectives of the association are to research, develop and promote alternative ways of meeting the social, economic, environmental and cultural needs of communities, to research, develop and promote social entrepreneurship and cooperatives, to support the development of new social enterprises and cooperatives and to promote the development of local communities, to provide advice on social activities and support services for social enterprises, and to bring together not-for-profit organisations in the field of not-for-profit entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, alternative production models and socio-cultural work, promoting and developing community action, fostering local community development, linking the urban centre with the countryside, promoting and developing subsistence models in the urban environment, promoting the creation and development of new NGOs, social enterprises and cooperatives in the field of alternative production practices.
