We are pleased to announce that the Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., is a partner in the project Citizenship: the Transition of Unaccompanied Minors to Early Adulthood through Citizenship and Labour Market Integration, funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).

Citizenship education is an important but sometimes overlooked tool for integrating migrants into the labour market, especially unaccompanied minors transitioning to adulthood. In order to promote their entry into the workforce of the new country in a way that is mutually beneficial, the Civilhood project will train professionals working to support them in the five participating Member States (Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Slovenia and Austria), with the aim of providing them with the necessary civic skills. The proposed action aims to promote the treatment of unaccompanied minors as rights-holders in accordance with their best interests related to their childhood.

The main proposed activities of the project are:
Needs analysis and exchange of good practices, training for professionals providing support to unaccompanied minors in the public and private sectors and pilot training for unaccompanied minors, development of sustainable training and awareness-raising tools in several languages, including the most commonly spoken languages of migrants, dissemination, communication and awareness-raising activities, including a round table in the EU Parliament.

The project will train 350 stakeholders on innovative methods, pilot test their new skills and reach 150 unaccompanied minors. Three manuals will also be produced for unaccompanied minors, stakeholders and training providers, which will be accessible to stakeholders working with unaccompanied minors. The results of the project will be presented to national and EU stakeholders and policy makers.
