Court Tower Maribor

The fourth and penultimate concert in this year’s Classics Today?Tomorrow? series will be a performance by the Trio Tempestoso on Saturday, 20 November 2021, at 7 pm in the Judgement Tower.

The members of Trio Tempestoso were named winners of the 2019 Boris Pergamenschikov Competition in Berlin. The jury of one of the largest and most prestigious contemporary music competitions, held every three years under the honorary patronage of Mrs. Tatiana Pergamenschikov and Sir András Schiff, highlighted the “high level of instrumental interpretation” in the award’s justification, and wrote that the musicians’ “exciting performance combines musical tradition with the spirit of the present and points the way to the future”.

Their repertoire includes original compositions as well as carefully chosen adaptations or arrangements, in which the at times almost orchestral sound of the unusual trio (clarinet, cello, accordion) can express itself. The young musicians perform all over Europe and have recently recorded for Austrian Radio Ö1 and Radio Slovenia.

The trio was formed in 2017 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where they studied with Jannet Rätyä, Gerald Pachinger, Julian Arp and Martin Rainer.
