Farm – a Place of Diversity
The Association EPEKA, Soc. Ent., announces that in partnership with the Kovačnik farm, the Drankovec farm, the EPEKA Cooperative and the Uranjek organic farm – Pri baronu we got a three-year project Farm – a Place of Diversity.
The operation is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project is intended to increase the capacity of agricultural holdings in the field of work with vulnerable groups with the aim of their social activation and faster reintegration into society and the labor market. The intergenerational component and educational approaches that enable the transfer of knowledge between all participants as well as educators will also be emphasized. The latter will have social benefits for the included farms and other farms that decide to carry out such activities, especially with the possibility of secondary economic benefits.
The project is based on the needs and interests of the target groups with which the project partners work (members of farms, members of vulnerable groups, members of different generations, decision-makers, the media; Based on discussions and multi-year cooperation with target groups, we set the goals of the project: promoting diversification of activities on the farm, increasing the skills of farm members, employment of a part-time person with a leading partner, exploring the possibility of implementing activities in the field of vulnerable groups, possible complementary activities on the farm, increasing knowledge and awareness of the importance of local plant varieties and animal breeds and local cuisine, connecting local communities and local producers and educating the general public about local producers, environmental responsibility of farms and the operation of successful farms for social good, increased employment opportunities for vulnerable groups and its benefits on farms, permaculture approaches to agriculture and raising awareness of members of vulnerable groups about the importance of a healthy diet and support for local production.
Through participation in the project, the involved farms will gain extensive knowledge in the field of non-formal education methods and the inclusion of vulnerable groups in the activities of agricultural holdings, thus contributing to reducing social exclusion and increasing social cohesion. The latter will also enable the participation of farms in activities prepared by other organizations, both public and non-governmental, in the field of social protection. Those involved in the activities, especially members of vulnerable groups, will acquire new competencies and habits that will enable them to integrate more easily into society and the labor market and enable employment in the agricultural sector.
